Cost of a periodic check-up at the dentist

The check-up dentist fees are the same at every dentist. This is because these costs are set by law. Regardless of whether you go to a dentist in Amsterdam or Maastricht, the rates are the same. For example, if we are talking about a periodic dental check-up, you pay €25.27 for this. This only involves a check-up to make sure everything is in order with your teeth. All other work involves extra costs.

Frequent costs and fees at the dentist

If you take a look at your dental bill, you will probably see all descriptions and codes on it. Besides the standard costs for the six-monthly dental check-up, we then talk about costs for fillings, teeth cleaning and much more. Codes starting with a V always have to do with fillings, while codes with an M relate to preventive oral care. Codes with an X always have to do with taking photographs, while the C stands for consultation dentist fees. For extensive treatments like root canal treatment, another E is then used with the code.

Are you looking for a cheap dentist?

Keep in mind that the costs for each treatment are the same for each dentist. However, different dentists may use these codes differently and charge a cheaper treatment, for example. Often, a dentist will also take photographs. Here, too, costs vary. A small X-ray normally costs €37.27, but larger photos are charged more.

Saving by not going to the check-up is a bad idea

There are some people who want to save on dental costs by not going to the six-monthly check-up. This is a bad idea, as the state of your teeth can quickly deteriorate. Small problems with your teeth then go undetected and can grow into bigger problems. The result is then not only toothache, but also that you actually face bigger costs!

A good way to avoid high dental costs is to take good care of your teeth. There are all kinds of products for this. Brushing your teeth properly with a high-quality toothpaste is a start, but you can find much more besides. Think about toothpaste tablets, bamboo toothbrushes, an electric toothbrush, tartar remover, dental floss and much more.
